Guide to Karma
Unplug
Creating something meaningful requires time, space, and focus. Before starting your letter remove all distractions (phones/the internet are the major thieves of our time) and spend a few minutes thinking about the person you’re going to write to. Ask yourself why you’re grateful to have them in your life.
Heart
Always start from the heart and don’t let perfectionism immobilise you. You’ll be amazed what can come pouring out of you if you harness the courage and discipline to follow those two rules.
Story
Tell a story and have fun. Storytelling is at the heart of all great writing and it relies not on spelling nor grammar. A story is the difference between saying that Jill is loyal and describing how she is so. To get the storytelling juices flowing think about the qualities that best define the person you’re writing to. Then ask yourself what stories and shared experiences highlight their qualities? Reminiscing in this way and putting your thoughts into words is time well spent.
